POLYVINYLCHLORULE
Polyvinylchloride (abbreviated PVC) is one of the most commonly used technopolymers in industry and in visual communication. From its starting granule, four different types are produced, very different from each other both in terms of characteristics and applications: Rigid PVC (PVC-U), Foam PVC (PVC-E), Flexible PVC and Clear PVC. PVC-C can be supplied on request.
Features
The main characteristic of PVC is its excellent chemical resistance which places it (together with Polypropylene PP) as the obligatory choice in certain applications. It also has excellent resistance to fire (it is self-extinguishing) It has excellent electrical characteristics, especially in the field of low voltages and frequencies; it also absorbs little water. On the other hand, it has a rather low temperature resistance, in fact it can only work from -5 ° C to + 60 ° C.
Processing
PVC can be easily cut with circular saws and worked with automatic and machine tools (turning, drilling, cdc milling). It absolutely cannot be laser cut because it would give off toxic fumes. It can be both glued and welded with special glues.
Applications
The various types of PVC are used in very different sectors. PVC-U is mainly used in industry; Clear PVC for protection, Flexible PVC for sliding gates and doors, while Foam PVC for signage and visual communication.
